Prevent Stroke with Early Detection
Preventing a stroke starts by managing your risk factors — and that begins with knowing what they are. At Seale Harris Clinic, we evaluate key indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking status, and lifestyle habits like diet and exercise. With early screening and intervention, our team helps patients reduce their stroke risk and improve long-term brain and heart health.
What to Expect
Your physician will begin by evaluating key stroke risk factors, including:
- Blood pressure
- Cholesterol levels
- Smoking habits
- Family and personal medical history
- Initial screenings may include:
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Chest X-ray
Based on results, you may be referred for additional testing:
- Carotid Doppler Ultrasound
(to assess blood flow in neck arteries) - Nuclear Stress Test
(to evaluate heart function under stress)
These tests help identify blockages or cardiac conditions that may lead to stroke.
Labs That Matter
Cholesterol plays a major role in stroke risk. At Seale Harris Clinic, we check:
- LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) — “Bad” cholesterol that clogs arteries
- HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) — “Good” cholesterol that helps protect your arteries
- VLDL (Very Low-Density Lipoprotein) — Another harmful fat that contributes to plaque
buildup
These results guide our prevention strategy and help us tailor your care.
